Instinct to Intention
The H.A.R.N.E.S.S. Method
Day 3 / Free Mini Course
It looks exactly like your best quality.

There is a specific kind of stuck that is hard to name because it is wrapped in something that looks like a strength.

The over-preparation that has been filed as thoroughness. The over-explaining that reads as clarity. The yes that comes out before the body has finished saying no, which gets called reliability. The re-read of the email before sending, and the re-read after that, which looks like attention to detail. The staying late that presents as dedication.

These are the behaviors that make performance reviews sound excellent and leave you exhausted by 4pm on a Tuesday.

They are also protection. The same system that produces the strength produces the cost. The same wiring that built the reputation is the one running the loop. Protection does not announce itself. It wears whatever face your life gave it, and in high-functioning people, that face is almost always a professional one.

Watch the video, then use the worksheet to take one behavior you have considered a strength and map what it is actually protecting underneath.

Now do the work

The video named the mechanism. The worksheet is where you see it in your own life.

Day 3 Worksheet
Pick one behavior you have considered a strength. Something that has served you, gotten you results, earned you recognition. You are not giving it up. You are seeing it clearly.
Name it plainly. Over-preparing, over-explaining, saying yes, staying late, smoothing things over.
How would a colleague or manager describe this quality in you?
Energy, time, resentment, the thing you did not do because you were doing this.
What does the system expect would happen if you stopped doing this?
You are not being asked to give up the behavior. You are being asked to see it clearly.

Ready to work with this directly? Book a call and we will talk about what this looks like for you.
